Crossing and Moving Emilio’s Mountain

Emilio is the fifteen year old boy who spent this past Christmas in Cleveland, Ohio.  He came with the hope that he would have surgery and gain his eye sight. After much testing it was decided that he was not a candidate for the surgical procedure. Emilio returned to his home in the remote village of Flor Azul. He retreated into his own private and personal world.  We journeyed to find him. It was a 40 minute ride up, over and around a mountain in the “Bogie Bogie”  driven by Justiniano. A 20 minute hike followed and then we saw Emilio’s 83 year old grand mother standing in the doorway. We sat on a bench with Emilio and quietly discussed his future. Emilio returned to the Flor Azul program with us and today is attending a boarding school for the blind in Valle de Los Angeles!

Thanks to Señor Lynch, construction is completed on the new kitchen facility. Over 150 people were served at the bonfire ceremony at Flor Azul March 25th.

We dreamed the impossible dream and greatly appreciate the generosity of Señor Grandote. He has made our dream come true as all of the boys enjoy the fantastic dining room at Flor Azul!

Spirits soared on this very proud graduation day at Reyes Irene Valenzuela Training Center.  Our girls from The Pedro Atala homes were, yet again, our super stars!
